Simon Strömberg

Simon Strömberg has been working as head of media and democracy development at Kulturskolan Stockholm and the Culture administration of Stockholm the last five years. Through the resource centre Unga Berättar/Speaking Youth Simon focuses on strengthen young peoples voices and participation by using media tools in the school environment as well as in out of school situations.

The activities are carried out in close collaboration with many schools and organisations e.g. UR (the Swedish educational broadcasting company) and Konstfack (University College of Arts Crafts and Design). Most of the work starts from the method Digital Storytelling where the personal story is in focus and the technique only the tool. Unga Berättar/Speaking Youth is today one of the leading organizations in the Digital Storytelling movement in Sweden.

Simon got a background as both journalist and teacher with Swedish language and social science as majors. Between 1996-2000 Simon worked as youth and educational manager at Swedens leading morning daily paper, Dagens Nyheter. After a session as TV-reporter, 2000-2001, he has been involved in several national and international projects connected to young people and media empowerment.
